Our Q&A with Jacob’s grandmother, Lisa, during his session with Coach Nitzia
Coach Rachel: What brought you to Agrove Fitness?
Lisa: Alta Regional suggested that he do some type of activities and he’s socializing more because he’s doing homeschool, so he’s not around a lot of other kids and people. He has his immediate siblings but other than that, they wanted him to just socialize a little bit more. His mom had mentioned Agrove Fitness was one of them, so I drove by a couple times and then it started coming up on my feed and then I contacted, I believe, Ryan’s number. He immediately contacted me back and so we came in and we signed up.
Coach Rachel: How long have you been here?
Lisa: Just since January.
Coach Rachel: What has your experience been like so far?
Lisa: So far, so good. He’s doing really good. He’s following directions with them, and I think he’s getting stronger too. Just his fine motor skills, he like doesn’t grab very tightly, you know, normally, like even pencils. So I’m kind of seeing an improvement in that. And he’s really bonded with her too. She’s really good with him. This is the first week he’s talking in another language, so he’s kind of throwing us off.
Coach Rachel: Can you tell us a little bit more about him? What are some of the activities he enjoys doing?
Lisa: So, he really likes his iPad and making videos. And he loves cars like Teslas. So, when I got a Tesla, he started getting a little fixated on them. So he knows everything about them that I don’t know. So he, he likes that.
When I have him, we ride the bikes to the park. He’ll ride his bike and then I’ll go with him. So he likes doing stuff like that. He’ll come out in my garage and I have some weights set up out there, so he’ll do the little ones with me. Before he started here he was doing that.
Trampoline, he likes playing on that. He likes riding on the light rail and he memorizes all of the stations so he’ll tell me what line I should be using. He just has a very good memory. Yeah.
Coach Rachel: How would you describe Jacob?
Lisa: He’s very smart, loving, he’s funny. [He’s patient.] He’s a very kind little boy.
Coach Rachel: Is there anything else that you wanted to say that I didn’t ask?
Lisa: I just think it was a really good choice to come here, and that he’s given this opportunity. I think without Alta Regional, we probably wouldn’t have done it. So, I think it’s good just having the one-on-one specialized training. I think it’s great. So, that’s our weekend when I have him.
Yeah. I love him. I feel like he’s mine.
